Fish Crow

.

Poe came to us as a rehabilitating bird.  Unfortunately for Poe, his injuries were such that he cannot survive on his own in the wild.  He has one missing eye, part of his lower beak missing and one middle toe with serious issues which will be surgically removed soon.

Poe is a fish crow, which took us by surprise, as we are not from this part of the country and had never heard of fish crows.  Fish crows are much smaller and have a very different call from an American Crow.

Native Americans believe that crows are carriers of lost souls into the light, that they help people to understand the shadow within.
